After Hurricanes Hermine and Matthew hit Georgia this past fall, Alabama Power assisted in power restoration. The Edison Electric Institute took note and gave the utility company an Emergency Assistance Award. This award is presented twice a year to recognize outstanding response. Alabama Power was chosen by a panel of judges following an international nomination process. Alabama Power employees devoted more than 60,000 hours to restoring services. EEI President Tom Kuhn says Alabama Power’s crew was dedicated.
