Local Fire Chief Set to Retire

A man who has helped protect people and their property for decades is announcing his retirement. Chief Tony Taylor has led the Anniston Fire Department for five years, but he's been with the department for more than 30 years. Taylor was promoted to sergeant in 1990, lieutenant six years later, on to captain in 2000, then assistant chief in 2003 and finally to chief in 2012. Taylor says all the department's progress over the past five years is thanks to his entire crew. The chief's retirement takes effect this Friday, but that's not the end of the road for his public service. Taylor was recently elected to serve on the Jacksonville City Council.
