Local Mass Shooter Training

A mass shooting is something first responders hope they never have to deal with, but they're preparing for such a scenario, just in case. The Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics and the Oxford Police Department hosted an Aurora Theater Shooting Debrief today in Oxford. In 2012, a man claiming to be "The Joker" killed 12 people in a movie theater in Colorado. After this incident, emergency personnel are doing everything they can to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Oxford Police Chief Bill Partridge says preparing for something like this is vital... During the training, participants reviewed topics such as the suspect, the victims, and weapons. JSU Center for Applied Forensics Director Mark Hopwood says he hopes that more people will take the training. More than 200 people showed up at the Oxford Civic Center today for the active shooter training.
