Former Alabama Law Enforcement Secretary Spencer Collier is the new police chief of Selma. Selma Mayor Darrio Melton announced the appointment today. Collier and Melton served together in the House of Representatives. Collier is a former homeland security director for the state and former state trooper. Governor Bentley dismissed Collier as law enforcement secretary last year. The next day, Collier accused Bentley of having an affair with a staffer and interfering in law enforcement business. Bentley admitted making personal mistakes, but denied a sexual affair and the other allegations. Collier has a pending civil lawsuit against Bentley.
