A Cedar Bluff man pleads guilty in a child sex abuse case. A Cherokee County judge sentenced George Mobbs to a ten year reverse sentence, split to serve three years. Under such sentencing guidelines, the probationary period comes first. Mobbs must pay restitution in the amount of $20,000, plus court costs and bail bonding fees. According to court documents, the state recommended probation for 60 months as part of the plea agreement. In 2015, a Cherokee County grand jury indicted Mobbs for one count each of sexual abuse of a child, first degree rape, and two counts of sodomy.
