Extension for Chief Ladiga Trail Moving Forward

The City of Anniston is excited to move to the next steps in creating an extension for a recreational trail that spans two states. Over the past year the City of Anniston has been working with the Alabama Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to add on to the 33 mile long Chief Ladiga Trail. The project is currently making a “Right of Way Boundary Map” to make a design for the extension of the trail. The City of Anniston’s Director of Planning and Economic Development Toby Bennington says the planning is almost finished. The plan for the trail is for it to end in front of the Amtrak station on 4th Street. When the project is completed the trail will be more than 90 miles long. It will have a relaxing and comfortable seating area for cyclists and visitors to enjoy.
