A local elementary school is getting some good news along with some not-so-good news. First, the not-so-good news. Despite one of the driest weather seasons in Alabama history Oxford Elementary has developed a leaky roof. The roofing is original from when the school was built in 1977. Oxfords City Schools Human Resources Director Roy Bennett says that with spring showers just ahead it Is urgent to get the roof repair as soon as possible. And while the leaking roof may cause some gray clouds, Oxford Elementary did received some good news in the form of positive test scores. Oxford City Schools have ranked 10th overall in math throughout the state of Alabama. Bennett says he is honored and proud of the work the students and teachers do every day. Oxford Elementary was also ranked one of the best public schools in the state.
