Traffic Stop Leads to Two More Drug Charges

A routine traffic stop ends with two people facing drug charges. During that traffic stop,  DeKalb County Deputies discovered that Yancarlos Saldana was warrant from Guntersville Police Department. Police also found Saldana was carrying methamphetamine. K-9 Yogi and a deputy conducted an open air sniff and asked passanger Arele Alvarado to step out of the vehicle. Alvarado had two glass pipes and a plastic container with a white substance. During the search of the vehicle deputies seized several glass pipes and methamphetamine. Saldana and Alvardo were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office set up a driver’s license check point, which resulted in a couple of arrests and the discovery of drugs. Deputies asked Charles Steakley to pull over for not having a driver’s license. K-9 Yogi indicated drugs were in the vehicle. Deputies found two small baggies of meth and a glass pipe. Steakley was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. After arriving at the DeKalb County Detention Center hmore meth was found on him. He was then additionally charged with Promoting Prison Contraband.
