Two women are facing felony chemical endangerment charges in Etowah County. Sheriff’s Office Investigators say that Christian Hughley of Gadsden admitted to using heroin, methamphetamine and Roxicodone. She also tested positive for marijuana and opiates. She did not tell authorities she was pregnant until several days after her initial arrest in February on drug-related charges. In a separate case, investigators say that Crystal Russel of Attalla is also charged with chemical endangerment after testing positive for opiates, amphetamines and oxycodone while pregnant. Both women are being held at the Etowah County Detention Center. As a condition of their bonds, each must complete a drug treatment program that will be monitored by Etowah County Community Corrections.
