Two Women in Custody for Chemical Endangerment of a Child

Two women are in custody after admitting to using drugs while pregnant. Etowah County Investigators say Brittany Boone admitted to taking pain pills, without a legal prescription and she tested positive for opiates. Officers also say McKenzie Hays admitted to using methamphetamine and marijuana while pregnant. Both women are charged with chemical endangerment of a child. They are being held at the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bonds. As a condition of their bond the women must successfully complete a drug treatment program and will be monitored by Etowah County Community Corrections.
