The nation’s largest chain of outdoors specialty stores announces plans to close 32 of its more than 100 stores, including the one in east Gadsden. Gander Mountain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from its creditors with the aim of selling the business. The company released a statement saying the court’s protections will enable them to manage the sale process while protecting its customers, employees and other stake holders. Gander Mountain is in active discussions with several parties interested in a sale and expects to solicit bids prior to an auction to be held in late April.
