The team gathered in front of approximately 1,000 fans at Pete Mathews Coliseum on Sunday afternoon to learn the seeding, matchup and location of its first NCAA Tournament. Fans spent an hour meeting the team, receiving autographed commemorative posters and having their pictures taken with the OVC Championship trophy.
The team and crowd moved to the court at 4:30 p.m. to view the Selection Show. Upon the announcement of JSU's tourney fate, the Gamecocks faithful rose and cheered as the team celebrated on the court.

Until this season, Jacksonville State has never played a postseason game past the conference tournament since joining the Division I ranks in 1995. The Gamecocks are coming off their first Division I title, claiming the OVC Championship on Saturday, March 4 with a 66-55 victory over UT Martin in Nashville, Tenn.
Prior to moving to Division I, Jacksonville State enjoyed unparalleled dominance for more than a decade and won one NCAA Division II National Championship. JSU earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament eight times between 1980 and 1992 under legendary head coach Bill Jones. The Gamecocks reached the Elite Eight three times, the Final Four once and won the National Championship in 1985.
