No Liberty Day celebration this summer in Cedar Bluff. According to published reports, the Cedar Bluff Town Council has voted to cancel this year’s Liberty Day Festival due to a lack of funding. Town officials say that a few donations had been received for this year’s event, but not enough to cover the costs. Mayor Tammy Crane says that organizers have also not received any vendor applications for this year. The Town of Cedar Bluff posted a $3,000 loss for last year’s festival and Council members say that they can’t justify spending that kind of money on a festival when there are numerous road repairs that need to be done. Cedar Bluff’s Liberty Day festival and fireworks show has been a staple of Cherokee County summer events for more than 20 years.
