Bird Flu Leads to Poultry Restrictions

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Flocks of chickens at commercial poultry breeding operations in Pickens County and Madison County have tested positive for low pathogenic avian influenza. State Veterinarian Doctor Tony Frazier issued an official Order Prohibiting Poultry Exhibitions and the Assembling of Poultry to Be Sold. The order prohibits all poultry from being sold at county fairs, festivals, swap meets, live bird markets, flea markets and auctions. Doctor Frazier says the health of our poultry is critically important. The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries staff is working to defend the health of poultry.
