Last night’s storms leave behind damage and power outages. Cherokee and Etowah County were placed under a severe thunderstorm warning with winds reaching up to 50 miles per hour at times. Golf-ball size hail was reported in parts of Gadsden, Hokes Bluff and Cherokee County. The hardest hit locations appear to be around the Bay Springs and Big Oak areas where a large number of trees were either knocked over or snapped, bringing power lines down with them. There are numerous reports of trees causing damage to rooftops and boat houses as well. Fortunately, there are no reports of anyone being injured during the storms.
