Governor Robert Bentley’s attorney today filed an emergency motion with the judiciary committee asking for a special hearing no later than next Wednesday. That’s two days before the anticipated release of a report on the impeachment investigation against the governor. The impeachment process began last April when 23 House members signed a resolution. They accused the governor of willful neglect of duty and corruption saying there was credible evidence of probable cause that Bentley misused state resources. This came after the former head of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Spencer Collier claimed Bentley had an affair with his political advisor. Bentley has denied the affair or any misuse of state funds.
