U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announces a plan to speed up deportation of illegal immigrants while saving taxpayers money. The plan would expand and modify the Justice Department’s institutional hearing program by bringing immigration judges to defendants instead of the other way around. Sessions' plan is to increase the number of Bureau of Prisons contract facilities that can conduct the deportations and to add technology for video teleconference deportation proceedings. The plan also involves a new uniform policy between a Department of Justice office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Sessions’ office is expected to make the agreement next week.
