A local organization is raising money for men and women who put their lives on the line every day. Members of the Calhoun County Circuit Clerk Committee are asking for donations for law enforcement. The goal is to raise enough money to be able to give each law enforcement officer in Calhoun County $100 to take his or her family out to eat. Circuit Clerk Kim McCarson says it’s a way to say thank you for all they do. Law Enforcement Appreciation Week is coming up May 15th through the 19th and McCarson’s committee is trying to raise $40,000 for their project. Several businesses have already contributed. The group is also selling t-shirts, hats and bumper stickers. All the proceeds will go to law enforcement officers.
