Updates on Jacksonville's Animal Control Ordinance

Saturday, April 1, 2017

The City of Jacksonville is updating its animal control ordinance. During its regular meeting last night, the city council approved a new ordinance, that will make it illegal to chain a dog to a stationary object. Violation of the updated ordinance could result in a $500 fine and up to six months in jail. City officials say the updates clarify and expand existing restrictions and make the law easier to enforce.
