A New Scam Plaguing Calhoun County

A new scam is affecting the people of Calhoun County. People have reported getting calls from someone claiming to be part of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. They are calling to notify the person that they have a warrant and will be arrested if they do not pay an amount of money, usually via a green dot card. Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade says that’s not how they do business. Sheriff Wade also says that if you receive any phone call demanding money, more than likely it is a scam. Scams come in many different ways. Recently, there have been several claiming to be with the IRS. If you receive a call similar to this, contact your local law enforcement.
