Avian Flu Threat is Over in Alabama

All poultry exhibitions and sales as well as exotic and live bird markets and auctions may resume operations in Alabama. The State Department of Agriculture today announced they are confident the avian flu threat is over in Alabama. The state put poultry and live bird restrictions in place last month after the worst outbreak of the disease in Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky since 2015. The state agriculture commissioner lifted the poultry and bird restrictions today after extensive testing of commercial and backyard flocks in surveillance zones across Alabama.
