Man Pleads Guilty for Making False Statements

A man from Vestavia Hills pleads guilty in federal court to making a false statement to the FBI about payments he received from a contractor providing inmate health care at the Jefferson County Jail. Michael Goddard was questioned by FBI agents in August 2016 while they were investigating recurring monthly payments to Davis & Associates, a consulting firm in Birmingham. On August 31 FBI agents served Goddard a grand jury subpoena for records. The agents asked Goddard about monthly payments he was receiving from Health Assurance. Goddard said they were unrelated to the contracts with Jefferson County. Goddard’s sentencing date has not yet been set.
