CDP Superintendent Transferred to Washington
The superintendent of the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston is being transferred to Washington. Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced this week that Mike King, who has been head of the CDP for four years, is being reassigned to FEMA headquarters. The transfer follows an agency investigation of the use of chemical and biological agents at the center. That report showed that a toxic form of ricin had been used in training exercises involving thousands of first responders from across the country. The report recommended that the center adopt more training options, set up a training advisory board, and exercise more oversight in the training program.
