The city of Oxford is putting the final touches on a brand new facility. The new Oxford Fire Department will open in a little over a month. The station is located on the corner of Friendship Road and Lane Road. While sheet rock is still visible, the foundation and walls are up and in place. Oxford Fire Chief Gary Sparks says this new facility will help the city better serve its citizens. Chief Sparks says that with the new fire station units can respond to Sherwood Forest and Cider Ridge in less than five minutes. The new facility will have living quarters for firefighters, a kitchen, offices, a substation for police and will house a new ladder truck this fall.
