Jacksonville Moves Plans for New Park Forward

Plans for a new park are now underway for the city of Jacksonville. The Calhoun County Commission agreed to spend more than 90 thousand dollars on the first phase of building a park for the west side of Jacksonville. The first phase of the Chief Ladiga Landing will be a parking lot and picnic area near the Alexandria- Jacksonville Highway’s intersection with the Chief Ladiga Trail. The picnic area will be underneath oak trees and the parking lot will provide 24 spots on an adjoining paved lot. The first phase will take less than two months to finish. The second phase will be bid separately and will include landscaping at the site. The entire project is estimated to take between six months to a year to complete.
