Five JSU Softball Graduates Honored

Five members of the JSU softball team earned their degrees last week. However, since the team was on the road at Eastern Kentucky, they did not get to walk in the commencement ceremony Friday. On Tuesday, the school found a way to honor the girls' academic accomplishment. University President John Beehler held a special ceremony on campus to present the players with their diplomas in front of their families and teammates.

The graduates: catcher Jamie McGuire, outfielder Stephanie Lewis, pitcher Jordan Sims and infielders Cadi Oliver and Taylor Sloan.

Not only is this senior class accomplished in the classroom but also on the field. The Gamecocks have already won the OVC's regular season title. They will close out the season this weekend at Tennessee Tech then get ready to host the OVC Tournament. The tourney takes place May 10-13 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford.
