Social Security Related Scam

Thursday, May 4, 2017

A new scam is on the rise. The Office of Inspector General and the Social Security Administration report people receiving pre-recorded messages claiming to be a Special Agent and that their benefits have been suspended. The recording then tells the victim to call a given number. While OIG and SSA may call people for investigative purposes, they will not request personal bank information over the phone. If you receive this phone call do not respond. Simply hang up and visit the OIG website to file a report.
