Munford Baseball Prepares For State Quarterfinals

Only the top eight teams in each class are alive in the high school baseball season. The third round features a lot of local teams, and perhaps the hottest right now is Munford.

TV24 Sports dropped by the Lions practice Wednesday as the guys get ready to face Loveless Academic Magnet Program High School (better known as LAMP). Munford has 22 wins on the season but it has been a roller coaster ride. The Lions started 7-1, then lost 10 of 12 games in the middle of the year. By April 11th they held a 13-15 record. But then the team came alive winning nine of their last 10 games including five in the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Not only is this team playing confident baseball, but they’re also playing inspired ball. That inspiration months ago in a place far away from the diamond. The Clemson Tigers football team's theme of "love" struck a cord with the Lions and they have shown it all year. The team considers themselves as a brotherhood with a very tight bond.

Munford and LAMP do battle Friday at paterson Field down in Montgomery. The best-of-three series begins with games 1 and 2 Friday at 4:30 and if necessary game 3 on Saturday.
