Oxford Celebrates National Day of Prayer

Friday, May 5, 2017

A day to come together as a community, hold hands and give thanks. The rain couldn’t keep people away from gathering all throughout the day to join as one community and celebrate the National Day of Prayer. This day is celebrated annually on the first Thursday in May. Oxford Mayor Alton Craft says it’s a great day when a community comes together like this. Members of the community got the chance to listen to several spiritual leaders speak about the wonders and blessings God has showered upon us. One of those leaders was Word Alive International Outreach Pastor, Kent Mattox who tells us the Lord works through all people. The group gathered several times throughout the day. The last meeting of the day was dedicated to Prayer of Thanksgiving and Intercession at Liberty Park for the military and public safety leaders. This was a time to focus on thanking the Lord for all those who made sacrifices on behalf of our country.
