An annual charity event has people swinging golf clubs for a good cause. This year’s ERA King and 12 Months of Giving Charity Golf Tournament raised money to benefit United Cerebral Palsy of East Central Alabama. UCP provides services and support for men, women and children who suffer from cerebral palsy and other developmental disabilities by giving them an opportunity to live life to the fullest. 12 Months of Giving Coordinator Ashley Mitchell says that local fundraising efforts are important. One of the families the group has helped over the years is the Lipham family. Dani was diagnosed with a developmental disability at a very young age and with the help of the UCP center Dani is able to do things doctors had only dreamed about for her. Lipham adds that events like the charity golf tournament are the reason her daughter is as healthy as she is. About 88 golfers came out in the rain to support UCP. Local businesses also came to show their support by setting up tents and offering supplies to golfers.
