Two Women Arrested for Chemical Endangerment

Two Etowah County women face chemical endangerment charges. Investigators say Whitley Jennings tested positive for opiates when her baby was born. The child also tested positive for Cocaine and opiates. Laura Brooks and her newborn tested positive for amphetamines and benzodiazepine during labor and delivery. Both women are being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on 10-thousand dollar cash bonds. As a condition of their bond, each woman must successfully complete a drug treatment program and will be supervised by Etowah Community Corrections upon their release.
