Jacksonville’s historic mill village could soon get new purpose. The Jacksonville City Council has agreed to give the mayor authority to negotiate a deal with Calderys USA of Jacksonville. Preliminary plans call for the city to demolish one of the two remaining buildings, making way for Calderys USA to construct a new facility and renovate existing structures. This would give Calderys a new plant and administrative office space. The plan would also grow production and bring more jobs to the city. Calderys USA operations manager Rob Ott says the company could spend between three and six million dollars on the project and hopes the facility will be completed by next year.
