Local Museum Earns Award

A local museum is recognized for its efforts to preserve and tell the story of local history. The Etowah Heritage Museum was recently awarded the Alabama Historical Society 2017 Alabama Historical Museum Award. The museum earned the award for the large amount of history provided for visitors, its historical exhibitions and for exceptional achievement in spreading Etowah County’s history. Museum Assistant Director Ryan Cole says that the award was earned with a lot of hard work. The Etowah Heritage Museum is open Monday through Friday and is located in the Elliott Community Center in Alabama City. The museum offers exhibits on a variety of subjects…and even includes the National Heritage Tree Park outside the museum.
