Munford High School Wins National Award

A local high school is presented with a national award for outstanding achievements. Munford High School is proud to be one of the five winners for the current academic year of the Innovation and Change Award. The National Principals Leadership Institute created the award to recognize sustained positive changes in schools across the nation. Every year schools are nominated and go through a screening process. Talladega County Schools Superintendent Doctor Suzanne Lacey says an award like this has a major impact on a school. Munford High School Assistant Principal Devonna Strickland says the school first applied last year, but everyone came together this year to work a little bit harder and win the award. Along with the award the school will be presented with a $10,000 sustainability grant. Since the year 2000, more than 850 schools have been nominated, while only 81 schools have been recognized.
