Governor Signs Midwifery Bill Into Law

Governor Ivey signs a bill into law. The bill regards the practice of midwifery in the state of Alabama, and allows certified midwives to deliver babies. In a news release, Governor Ivey says that “After thoughtful and deliberate consideration, she signed the bill to give mothers more options to choose how to deliver their baby, while simultaneously ensuring that those midwives who practice in Alabama are qualified to do so. The debate on this bill brought all parties to the table and is a perfect example of the people of Alabama playing an active and effective role in lobbying their government.”
