Warning for Those Swimming in the Coosa River

With the weather warming up and everyone headed to the lake one organization is cautioning people to be educated about where they relax. The Coosa Riverkeepers collect water quality samples from 20 popular swimming holes on the Coosa River every week in the summer and make the results available free to the public on their website. Some of these lakes include places in Gadsden, Pell City, Clanton and Rainbow City where water temperatures are warm and E. coli bacteria levels have historically been low. If you, your family and friends are planning to cannonball into the water this weekend and you want to get more information about where you are going you can visit their website at www.coosariver.org/swimguide or in the Waterkeeper Swim Guide smartphone app you can receive a free text alert each week when new data is posted by texting “SWIMGUIDE” to 844-83.
