A plan to give Oxford a face-lift is underway and construction will begin soon.
Oxford officials are preparing to give the downtown area a completely new look and make it more accessible to the public. Some things that downtown Oxford can expect are new traffic lights, sidewalks, street lights and crosswalks. This project is estimated to take about nine months. Oxford City Engineer and Public Works Director Rusty Gann tells us how this will benefit the people of Oxford and visitors to the downtown area. Gann also says this project will cost between 2.5 and 2.7 million dollars. The construction work will be done from Snow Street to Oak Street and Choccolocco Street, and Main Street to White Side. Gann says during construction there will be no road closures, but certain roadways will be impacted.
