A Gadsden woman is charged with drug trafficking and chemical endangerment of a child. Etowah County DEU Deputy Commander Phil Sims says Gadsden Officers arrested Shelly Burns after they responded to a call about possible drug activity at an apartment on White Avenue. Officers knocked on the door and spoke with Burns and could smell an overwhelming odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the apartment. Officers found about 70 grams of synthetic drugs and a small child less than a year old in a playpen in the living room where the drugs were being smoked. DHR responded to the apartment and took the child into custody.
