A non-profit that has served Anniston and the surrounding areas for more than 100 years is closing its doors, at least for now. The Anniston Salvation Army has helped thousands of families over the years by providing shelter, hot meals, utility assistance and more. On July 1st the Family Store located on Noble Street is closing its doors. The current location is in an area that is more industrial and attracts fewer shoppers. Corps Officer Major Eric Roberts says this closure hurts many families in need. Roberts also says the store closure is hopefully only temporary and they are in the process of trying to find a better location. While the store is closing, it will open twice a month with the help of volunteers.
