New Grant to Help with Rural Transportation

Etowah County Rural Transportation has received a Job Access and Reverse Commute grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation. This grant allows the county to provide free transportation for low income families with children under the age of 18. Etowah County Transportation Director Lora Weaver talks about some of the ways the grant money helps local families. Weaver says people interested in getting transportation help should fill out the eligibility forms through the Department of Human Resources or Community Action of Etowah County. Transportation is available Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., but the county is working on a plan to extend service for after-hours transportation.
