Three Charged with Drug Trafficking

Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Three men are facing drug trafficking charges following a month-long investigation in Etowah County. The sheriff’s office says they seized heroin, salvia, and a gun last week during two different traffic stops associated with this same case. Drug task force agents arrested Antonious Porter of Anniston during the first traffic stop, and during the second one, they arrested Deontriez Woods and Oderion Smith, both of Anniston. Both traffic stops happened on Highway 278 as the cars were coming into Etowah County from Georgia. Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit Deputy Commander Phil Sims says they have been watching Porter for some time now. Investigators say they are still trying to determine who the men were delivering the drugs to once they brought them across the state line from Georgia. All three men are held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $100,000 bonds, each.
