Lawmakers Want New District Lines Rejected

African-American lawmakers are urging federal judges to reject newly redrawn legislative districts. The Alabama Legislative Black Caucus filed its objections to the latest plan that was approved by the GOP-controlled Alabama Legislature. The filing also notes that there is close correlation between race and party affiliation in the state. Republicans have argued that the new map addresses problems previously identified by the court.
