Sears Building Bought By City of Oxford

Thursday, June 15, 2017

A vacant portion of the Quintard Mall will soon belong to the city of Oxford. The city council voted unanimously to spend one-point-six million dollars on the vacant space where Sears was once located. The store closed due to cost-cutting by the company and the space was listed for sale. Officials say plans to revitalize the mall may be in the works, but no money will be spent until engineers have a chance to inspect the building in 90 days. The inspection could cost nearly $60,000.
