Alabama has joined a 10-state coalition defending President Trump’s executive order that directed the federal government to ensure compliance with laws prohibiting sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants. President Trump’s order warns sanctuary cities that they may not receive grant money from specific federal programs. The multi-state brief, filed today, supports the federal government’s motion to dismiss three lawsuits over the executive order. The coalition calls the lawsuits premature and says the legal action undermines the President’s immigration enforcement authority.
