A legendary country music group gets another prestigious honor. The Fort Payne Main Street Association placed a bronze star for the group Alabama on the sidewalk at the historic DeKalb Theatre today. Fort Payne is home to the group that is considered the top country bands in history. They have scored more than 40 chart-topping singles, sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and set concert attendance records. Main Street Association Vice President Lynn Brewer says they wanted to honor the group that means so much to the region. Brewer also says the Main Street Association is going to start an Alabama Walk of Fame to celebrate the downtown area. Alabama was named ACM’s Artist of the Decade for the 1980s. While the band no longer holds it’s June Jam, members of the band hold a Fan Appreciation Weekend to celebrate with those who have supported their more than 40 year career.
