A Republican debate for the US Senate is coming to Oxford. Thanks for joining us I’m Carl Brady. The Calhoun County Republican Party is hosting a debate for a few of the candidates looking to get the GOP nomination in the US Senate special election. Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, Alabama Senator Trip Pittman, physician and former Christian Coalition Director Randy Brinson, US Representative Mo Brooks and current US Senate Luther Strange have all been invited to participate. The debate will take place at the Oxford Civic Center tomorrow at 6 p.m. Radio host J. Holland will moderate the debate. The panel will hold four seats for former member of the U.S. House of Representatives Glen Browder, JSU scholar Bill Lester, JSU professor of political science Bryan Read, and retired Army colonel and former professor at the US Military Academy at West Point, Steve Flowers. The primary elections for the Senate are set for August 15 and if necessary a runoff will take place on September 26th.
