Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Governor Kay Ivey is awarding grants totaling 950-thousand dollars to assist low-income and elderly Alabama residents who need help reducing their home’s utility bills. The grants are supporting Alabama’s Weatherization Assistance Program, which provides funds to improve the energy efficiency and safety of qualifying homes. Governor Ivey says those with limited and fixed incomes struggle to pay higher utility bills in the hot summer months. These grants will help permanently lower the energy bills for the most vulnerable and free up funds in their budget for other essentials like medication and food.
