The Calhoun County Courthouse today threw a celebration in honor of District Attorney Brian McVeigh and Deputy Chief Investigator Chris Hughes. The District Attorneys Association of Alabama elected McVeigh as its new president last week. As president he will preside over the Association’s meetings, as well as speak with legislators about upcoming laws and how they would affect the state's district attorneys. McVeigh credits his success with the people he works with. Chris Hughes handles the trial preparation for the assistant district attorneys. The District Attorney’s Association named Hughes as the investigator of the year for 2017. Hughes is gracious about the award. Hughes joined the district attorney’s office in 2006, and McVeigh joined in 2000.
