Law Enforcement Begins Operation Southern Shield Soon

Law enforcement is ramping up enforcement on the highways next week. Operation Southern Shield is an effort by law enforcement agencies to crack down on motorists who are driving distracted, impaired, or without a seatbelt. From July 17th to the 23rd, officers will conduct extra patrols in areas where crashes often occur. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs says the campaign’s goal is to have a period of zero fatalities on the state's highways.
