City Council Discusses June Resolution

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

The Anniston City Council met to discuss many issues, namely a proposed change to a June resolution. The resolution directs the city manager to define the terms of s proposed agreement with Anniston City Schools to help pay for a technology initiative for the schools. Councilman Ben Little proposed a single word change in the resolution, changing the word “could,” back to “would.” This would make it clear that the city is obligated to help with the cost of the initiative. After much heated debate, the council voted three to two against the change. The council members that voted no said they haven’t seen enough details of the initiative to warrant an obligation.
